FOR INSTRUCTORS + TEACHERS

If you teach college (or high school) courses, you are welcome to use the course content as part of one or more of your courses. You may either reach out to me at kalei.ruiz@hawaii.edu or report your use of the materials via the Course Materials Usage Form.

  • Modules or Full Course. You may use the course in its entirety or select modules / videos.

  • Course Material or Extra CreditYou are welcome to use the course, modules, and/or videos as materials embedded into your course or as an extra credit opportunity for students.

  • Certificates of Completion. If you will be having students submit the certificate of completion, please note that I manually generate each certificate, which can take some time. To account for potential delays, I would recommend (1) setting the deadline to submit the certificate one week before you need it for grading, and/or (2) informing students that the certificate will be accepted as long as the completion date on the certificate is prior to the deadline you set.

Finally, if you are interested in having me speak in one of your class sessions, feel free to email me at kalei.ruiz@hawaii.edu. (NOTE: Zoom is generally easiest for me, but we can discuss other arrangements as necessary.)

RECORDED SESSIONS

Join Leeward Community College Associated Students of University of Hawaiʻi President Kendal Ratliff and Associate Professor kalei ruiz in an episode of Leeward CC's Career Central Podcast. In this episode, Kendal interviews kalei regarding his story and how queer identity and disability can impact the pursuit of academic and career goals. Check out the episode now available on YouTube!

In partnership with clubs at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST), including Ryudai Rainbow, IF-OIST, and OIST LGBTQ+ and Allies, kalei ruiz had the opportunity to present on research and ideas towards decolonizing our approach to gender and LGBTQ+ discourse. Mahalo to the representatives from the institute who not only recorded and translated the session, but also agreed to make the session available for viewing! Check out the recorded session here to learn more about how we can begin to decolonize LGBTQ+ discourse and advocacy.
